About Us
Svetlana and Victoria are the creative mother-and-daughter duo behind "An Hour in the Clouds". This story, formed naturally and effortlessly, was born in the hush of home evenings when the whole world slowed its pace during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over a cup of tea, their memories and dreams wove themselves into a fairy-tale canvas where the ordinary became wonder, and small deeds lead to great changes.
Meet Svetlana and Victoria
The creative process saw each author create the chapters that resonated in her soul.
Svetlana Humphreys
Svetlana is an artist and teacher who led the "Blue Bird" studio. Her deep understanding of child psychology and her years of practice working with children helped her create expressive, lively character images.
Victoria Chaika
Victoria learned drawing in her mother's studio and honed her skills at an art school for gifted children. She is a digital designer who skillfully translates the world of drawing into a technical medium, and her ballet lessons even lent grace to one of the main characters, connecting memories with real life.
A Small, Bright Ray of Comfort
The characters of the book are also inspired by a very special member of the family: Gracia, a Petit Brabançon. Gracia’s soft nose and endless devotion inspired the depiction of the dog in the book, and she lives in the illustrations like a small, bright ray of home comfort.
